Q: How Do You Address Attension Issues in Clients?

With issues of attention deficit, particularly ADHD, hyperactivity disorder, we tend to find that most clients – and they tend to be younger clients – are more hyperactive in the right hemisphere. So, we would work towards calming that down via neurofeedback. But, we also would work towards trying to optimize regulation via auditory listening training with various venues that we use of the Tomatis principle. We find that auditory training can be a really great equalizer in bringing down overall arousal and help a client become more grounded within themselves and give them a sense of calmness. We then would primarily address areas of the right hemisphere, both parietally to help body awareness, as well as social awareness with others, and overall physiological regulation between hemisphere. And then with some of our clients we find we have to work with emotional reactivity.
